Naturally Happy Healthy Me is my brain child, but I'm only one of the many people who come together to make this site possible. I have a passion for healthy living and happiness, and I love sharing that passion with you. I believe having many different voices and outlooks on health and happiness makes sense because there are many different paths to wellness. I love learning more about natural ways to health and happiness, and I love sharing that learning with each of you.
My interest in being healthy and happy began years ago when I bought a small health food store with family members. I knew very little about being healthy, so I undertook a crash course in natural supplements and the conditions that drove my customers in to request them.
I learned more about natural supplements during these years than I learned in four years of college. The knowledge and interest I gained remained a primary part of me, and no matter what I did after I left the health food store, I often found myself recommending natural cures and ways to health.
It took me many more years to understand that health isn't determined only by what we eat and do. In order to be healthy, we must also be happy. Maybe it took me so many years to learn this because it took me many years to attain happiness myself.
Naturally Happy Healthy Me is all about being healthy and happy because I learned they're absolutely intertwined. Happy people are much likelier to be healthy, and healthy people are much likelier to be happy.
For the most part, I believe we already know what to do to be healthy and happy. We just need nudges and encouragement to get there.
Take eating for example. Who doesn't know we should primarily be eating vegetables and fruit? It's something most of us learn when we're very young. Yet, we're surrounded by tasty, unhealthy junk food constantly. Does being healthy mean we never eat junk food? Not in Lisa's World! I believe it's OK to eat something you want occasionally, even if it's not the best choice.
Or how about being happy by thinking positive thoughts? Betcha already knew that, but how often do you find yourself stuck in negative thinking?
I often say, "It's not about perfection, it's about practice." To live happy and be healthy, I believe we just have to practice instead of continuing to learn more facts we never implement.
I learned controlling my own mind was the key to my health and happiness. That doesn't mean I don't need to exercise or eat healthy food regularly. It means that I believe how I think and what I think are as important, if not more important, than what I do.
Even better, I learned easy to implement exercises to help me control my own thoughts and choose my thoughts. I became a stronger, happier, healthier person as a result.
I created the NHHM Groups to provide a safe, supportive environment to learn and grow toward happiness and health. Yes, you can do it on your own without joining a group. However, it's easier to change and grow when you're aligned with others who are making the same changes and have similar challenges along the way.
